To calculate the right current i need to know:

1.- the size of your tank.
2.- how many g/h or L/h move those filters.
3.- Flow direction.

Tank is 30g and with both filters together the max output is 250gph .

I think its enough... i have a 100gph internal filter with bubble flow, and its ok.

how do your puffs feel about it?

i point the current to the water surface to reduce the flowing strength and increase the air-water contact :thumb:

i was wondering the same thing because it seems like my f8s always stay near the filter water thats creating the current swimming up and down in it and just stay in that corner and not use the rest of the tank

Well thats behavior its common, i don't know why they like to swim up and down, like a broken elevator... even with good current and right parameters, some puffs do it ñ_ñ

one of my puffs love to do it, the other prefers to do explore all the tank, and swim in pair with his friend

My filters are hob so no choice but to have a downward current witch I like anyway because it breaks the water surface.

I have a canister filter with a jet for the water return, and my F8 LOVES to swim against the current. He was very unhappy when I inadvertently pointed the jet toward the back of the tank once during a water change and left it that way -- he wanted his flow back!

I very strongly disagree that "Most puffer do not nee current in their tanks". IMHO and IME all fish, definitely including puffers, need some current in their their tank. How much and how and where it occurs varies with the particular fish and the set-up.

F-8s definitely need areas of fairly high current and areas of relatively calm water.
