Post by Erikdapro »

Hi!
I own 5 green spotted puffers. Im just wondering, i read somwhere that puffers need an interactive enviroment to feel good. How is this acheived?

I gave each of mine a game boy. Most people use live rock or other appropriate decor.
I'm pretty sure I have a blue thumb.

So basically all you need to do is have an enviroment that moves?

Just visually complex decor with swimming gaps etc. Tell us a little about your tank. You have at least 150 gallons worth of puffer there.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Its about 130 gallons. On the left theres a big Root with small branches going dow to the botom. Like a tree. In front of that theres a lot of smaller rocks. Beside the tree like root theres a bigger root with holes here and there. Beside that theres a lot of biggerrocks stacked on each other so that theres caves and holes everywhere. Floating in the aquarium i have a lot of plastic plants to create Less light. The puffers seem to like the floating plants since thay chase them around.

You will have to keep an eye on them in there , they may get a little aggro with each other.

Here is my 55g that I had. I re-homed the 3 puffers. Didn't think it was large enough for even 2 of them.

When in high-end BW, I was still doing 50% WC for them. That involved using 10 cups of $alt/week. If you use live rock & a protein skimmer, that can be cut down to ~1/4 the amount of WC.
