Albino Corydoras

Post by Hufferpuffer »

Hi all

Does anyone know much about Cories? I know that they have a shoaling nature and should be in groups of 5-6 minimum. I currently have 3 Albino bronze cory in my community tank. I want to get another 3 to make them happy cories. I have read that different species of Cory won't shoal together but... will albino bronze cory see bronze cory as their own or will they only shoal with other albinos?

Many thanks x

Some species travel in mixed schools in the wild. They would be likely to do the same in captivity.

But IMHO and IME, your tank will look better with a school of all the same species and all the same color morph. If you have the albinos, stick withe those and get more of the same morph.

For what i know, and what i´ve seen corys never move on 5 or 6, thats a reproductive group... the real corydoras groups are huge, from hundreds of fish, but we can't keep hundreds

I have 15 corydoras paleatus and 15 corydoras aeneus (both species have albino morphs) and they are ok together, i keep the 2 groups on a 100 gal pond and see them swimming all together is a beautiful show :D

The more corys you have, the more happy they are (of course, if your thank allows it).

Thanks everybody.

30 Corys huh? Now that's a sight I'd like to see!

Unfortunately I don't have the room for more than 6 corys in my 180l. Not with the other current and planned residents although I am considering forgetting the 8 rasboras I have planned and adding an extra 3 corys making a group of 9. Decisions decisions... ;)

lol, i had to search around to find out how a little while ago. xray had told us how in a thread somewhere. but i took the hyperlink, clicked the youtube embed thingy in the reply screen and just removed everything except what was after the "watch?v=" so basically i just had /youtube] then "cWIVCdLOImw" between the brackets
