Soaking frozen bloodworms in vitachem..a good staple?

When i thaw bloodworms for my F8(daily) I let it thaw in vitachem and then feed my F8 with it. Is this good as staple?

Bloodworms don't have much nutritional value, vitamins are good, but you should give him more variety.

Like with all puffers hard-shelled meaty foods are the best (clams, crabs, snails)

+1 They need shelled food to keep their teeth from becoming overgrown. Snails are probably the only good food choice you could get away with as 95-100% of the diet, but definitely not bloodworms.

How can f8 eat crabs? How about shrimp and what kind? I gave him about 10 pond snails and he ate them all right away!

90% of the food I give my fish is live blackworms, soaked in vitamins & fed ground leftover fish food & plankton/krill. Frozen bloodworms are good too. You should defrost 1st, drain off the "juice" & then soak in fresh water with the vitamins. Of course, puffers need crunchy foods too.

My F8 is about 3/4",should i give him krill? I aso have frozen scallopes and shrimp that i prepare my self for my other fish. Should i give my F8 some of that?

A varied diet is great for him. Mine love plankton too, it's like a F8-sized krill.

I don't think krill should be part of the diet at all since it's been associated with and is being studied as causing lockjaw. I don't think it's worth the risk since there are so many better food options.

You guys need to stop freaking out about krill. It 's a great food! The problem with krill is most LFS are lazy & will just toss krill into their puffer's tanks for months, as it's their only food & then they wind up dying of lockjaw (I've also never heard of any other species experiencing this.) If added to a fish's diet as part of a variety of foods, it's perfectly fine as a healthy alternative.

I just prefer to be cautious, I'm just mentioning it as there are many people who have been told that krill is a good staple food by their LFS, and unfortunately do feed it regularly. I don't consider this freaking out about krill, I just personally wouldn't suggest it. A balanced and varied diet is the best option always.

My fahaka won't touch krill. Tried it once or twice. My Bala shark loved it. My dps love it, my small community fish love it, so at least it won't go to waste. Everything is good in moderation, but I agree with being cautious, so best kept to the minimum. But not to be feared lol
