Skimmer recommendation?

I'm thinking I need to get a new skimmer for my 250 saltwater tank.

Right now I just have a couple smaller ones that are rated up to ~150 gallons in total, but I'd much rather just have a single one to handle it all than have to deal with keeping three of them running or something.
It'd need to be around $200. Honestly, the cheaper the better. I still have some other equipment I need to buy.
I have a 40~ gallon sump on it I'm still trying to figure out how to set up.

Also, (because I don't want to make a new topic for it) for my 100 gallon tank, which would be brackish, I'm going to use my 110 AquaClear filter. I'd prefer more filtration though. I could put one of my smaller skimmers on there too, but I don't know if it would do anything, or if I'd be better off just using a better/bigger filter. The brackish tank will be 1.012 (I think, I haven't decided for sure yet. I may bring it up to 1.016 if the fish don't thrive).

Unfortunately, I don't know much about them, hopefully PP will say something soon. She recommended Bak-Pak skimmers to me..I am getting:

That will be for my 60g. I don't know if they maker a bigger one, but if you find it somewhere, be sure to double check Amazon. I found this for $60 cheaper and I don't have to pay for taxes.

I only have a 90g & am using the ASM G-2 that came with it. They don't make Backpacs that big!

I am not much help on the skimmer thing, but I was wondering where did you get your 250 gal?

i found a big reef octopus on CL the other day for $250 it was rated for 340gal. i'm sure you could find something like that if you are patient.

I got it on craigslist about a year ago, I forget what I paid for it, but it wasn't all that much.

I guess I'll end up just searching for something used on craigslist or ebay.
Anyone know of any brands I should stay away from?

If I had driftwood that came from the ocean would I be able to put it in my marine tank (or brackish tank)? Or would that just be full of parasites and end up disintegrating or something?

not marine but low brackish may be ok...

you'd certainly have to cook it. In the words of RTR: "If it is alive or ever was alive, QT it" I am not certain I got the quote right but the idea is there.

Wood will rot. In an enclosed system like a marine tank with few water changes, it is not a good option.

Alas. I figured as much, but I thought I'd ask anyway. It would have looked good in the SW tank surrounded by seagrass.
