he is currently in 55 g tank for now, until then when he's an adult, most likely put in 125 g + (i am very well known a fahaka should be in a very large tank)
my set up is not too much left side of tank has 2 drift wood (one covering heater and the other (V Shaped) next to it). Right side of tank has (the puffer on was the right side of the picture above) is a big rock, turtle shell shaped so i layed it against the class to have a little hiding spot for him.
I have a lot of store credit at my LFS which i will buy some plants soon, can you guys give me any suggestion to what plant i should get?
Beast Mode is really cute!
Your fahaka won't have the best opportunity to reach a normal adult size in a 55 gallon. It's best to upgrade when it's possible, because waiting for him to grow to adult size won't likely happen in a 55 gallon, especially if it's the standard 55 gallon, they only hold about 47 actually. It's ok for quarantine, but not long term.
Some people have good luck with plants like swords, but it just depends on your individual puffer.
+1 the tank he is in is really inappropriate, if you continue to keep him in there he will end up stunted. This in turn will lead to health issues and shortened lifespan. Handsome puffer you have there,
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly
ty for the tip, i will upgrade when possible. i really want whats's best for this guy. I agree about the health issues, i observe him everyday when i get off work and i wouldn't wanna see the little guy be in pain..

Awesome!!!!! I hope to have my new lil guy for a long time! It was tough for me to keep thorough cleaning and proper care of my last puff. Relying on others sucks! (Work schedule sucks!) But I have a great finance now that loves animals and Ive showed her how to do everything properly!!
At what age did you get filbert?
