Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.
We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.
While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.
Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

Ares and his little friend!
So I used to breed guppies as feeders for my Congos. Now that all my puffs are on dead food I tore the tank down about a month ago. I dropped my two remaining preggo females in Ares' tank. He ate one the first night. He has not touched the other, he pays her no mind at all. I feed her bloodworms every night and they eat together. The guppy always swims along Ares' side slightly to his rear. The guppy is often right in his face and Ares' doesn't care. So, for now, he has a tank mate. I hope his little buddy lasts. I just can't understand why the guppy hasn't had her babies yet...could it be because she is stressed? Her belly has stopped growing and she is showing no signs of giving birth. Her belly has the black spot where the babies are. Any insight?

Re: Ares and his little friend!
Guppys can give birth 5 to 10 times after the fist insemination, when the guppy girl has a maximum of 8 births is "self reproductive system" will stop and she will wait for a new insemination.
i guess your guppy is on the limit of "self reproduction" that means no more babes until she get a new boy ñ_ñ
By the way, I'm surprised a congo hasn't eat a guppy yet! thats a record! ñ_ñ

Let there be light, and lit up the days... Let there be puffers, and they swam around the world...

Why does she "look" pregnant then. If she has miscarried won't the fry "dissolve"? She's actually in with my Fahaka! He could care less...who knows what happens at night when the lights go out though...lol!

Re: Ares and his little friend!
haha! i put a guppy in my puffer tank and it was gone instantly. i have a bit of a weird guppy story too. i bought 15 for my catfish tank and all disappeared one a night until there were only 2 left. the only 2 with NO color on their tails. Just that tan color they are. they have been living in my catfish/knifefish tank for almost 3 months now. they swim right down and snap up blood worms from directly in front of the cats and no response.....explain that one? are they just the alpha fish of the bunch and are quick enough to get away?

Tan guppies are called clown guppies. They taste funny.
I'm pretty sure I have a blue thumb.
