Hi from Iowa
My girlfriend and I just got our first green spotted puffer. We were drastically mis-informed at a local pet store and picked one up for our community tank because lets face it, who can resit those puppy dog eyes? Anyways after putting him in the tank we quickly figured out he is'nt friendly, nor a freshwater fish... among many things. But we could not, would not abandoned our new friend! After a few days of reading an doing research we have learned what is needed to take care and keep one. So we went out and got a new 37 gallon tank for him, equipped with sand, hiding spots, and a bubble breathing dragon. We love him so much we got another for a tank mate. We hope to share and learn from this cool forum we found. Thanks for the valuable information we have gotten here!

I hope your puffer doesn't hurt that dragon!
Keep a very close eye on the parameters of that un-cycled tank, testing for ammonia, nitrite & nitrate, daily. Do water changes accordingly, which may have to be quite often, for the next 6 weeks. Look into to finding Tetra's Safestart to help with the cycle.You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

If I read that right you have 2 GSP's in a 37g. If so that is to small of a tank for them, should be atleast 60g for 2 gsps long term.

Oops, missed the part about the tank mate. I agree--go much bigger, that's only large enough for one GSP. You do have some time if they are <2" but with the tank not being cycled... it's not good.

They are just babies right now, about less than an inch and the other is slightly over an inch. This tank will not be long term. In the near future we will move them to a much larger tank. Unless you guys don't think they will be okay where they are now.

you have some time just not long. A few months you should be ok, just make sure to keep up on water changes and test your water a lot

I kept 2 when an inch long in a tank that size and it was fine. they grow slowly. although it is a good idea to start looking for good deals on a bigger tank. when you find one set it up and let it cycle and what not, its not a CRAZY RUSH to get them into a bigger one especially at around or less than an inch.
