50g supplies

I should be getting a 50g tank here in the next few days to upgrade Bacons tank. How fast do I need to install a skimmer on it? If I have a skimmer do I have to have a sump?

As soon as you can afford a good one, you can get a HOB, like a Bac Pac.

Thats what I was planning on doing. Trying to avoid a sump, just to noisy for me. Can never seem to get them to run quietly

maybe it was the intake on mine, but it was always loud as heck. It was very annoying

but if I have a bakpak do i need a sump too?

Not necessarily, as long as you don't overstock the tank. I do not have sumps on my 40 or 46g.
