GPS & Red Claw Crab
I was interested in getting a red claw crab for my 55 gallon freshwater tank, but after doing some extensive research found that they are very similar to the water requirements of a GPS. So that being, I know GPS's will eat crabs and species of the sort, but perhaps if the red claw is larger, they might be managable together? From what I gather the red claw can be in fresh as a youth, but then needs to work up to brackish, and then possibly marine conditions, as well I know they need to have surface space.
What are some thoughts on this?

Re: GPS & Red Claw Crab
If you put a bigger one in be prepared for a fight to the death. Put one in that the puff can handle so your puff can win. Sounds harsh but its nature. My lineatus had a fight with a mean red claw, he won but the red claw gave some lol

Re: GPS & Red Claw Crab
I kind of already have an idea, doesn't even let the snails hit the bottom of the tank, heck, barely lets them get to the middle of the tank! lol

My GSP has lived peacefully with fiddler crabs. He pecked at them a few times but left 'em alone until i removed them and froze 'em.

Re: GPS & Red Claw Crab
+1 to bertie coment.
¿how big is your GSP? if its an adult the crab has no chance, anyway i won't put a bigger crab it could be dangerous if your GSP is smaller, since this fish are really obstinate and could get hurt.

Re: GPS & Red Claw Crab
About 2" big now, I was just looking for a small tank mate option, but figured it wouldn't be possible.

Not too many that can handle the transfer to SW. Wait until he's in marine & then maybe you can add a few fast-moving fish.

Re: GPS & Red Claw Crab
a good tank mate option (what i have) is another gsp. if you dont mind doubling your tanksize plans. does a ceylon live with a gsp comfortably? (i know its up to the specific puffer i mean generally)

Re: GPS & Red Claw Crab
I tried a Giant African Filter Shrimp with pig today
They are about the same size. Pig went for it quite agressively. But long story short, I have a big shrimp cowering behind a piece of bogwood and a rather excited puffer going around the tank.
