Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.
1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.
2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.
3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)
4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.
5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.
We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.
While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.
Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

Wow! I just read this whole post. Glad it all worked out ok for both of you. And kudo's to Denzil for the fast thinking. I would have done the same thing. It's amazing what we do for our puffs. Today we had a new girl start at work. She asked me if my only pet's were cats. Three people all at once said: she has puffer fish too. All I could do was laugh. I guess my fish and my cat's are my babies.
I talk about them way more than the hubby. And I have a thousand more pictures of my pet's than the hubby.
I love my Annabelle (fahaka)!

LoL +1! Denzil feels kinda bad because I have photobooks all over the house of my dogs and now I am starting a new one on my puffers. I have yet to make and print one with me and Denzil xD
He asks me, "when are you going to make ours?" And in reply, I ask him "when are you going to propose?" LOL. I know he will eventually, but after last Christmas, it's been an ongoing joke between us.

Haha, when Gage and I started dating (six years ago), we lived 800 miles apart, so whenever we saw each other I took tons and tons of pictures. Now we live 15 miles apart & are engaged, and rarely take pics. I like to pull up old pictures and tell him "remember this? You loved me in this picture!"

So happy to hear Luau is doing well...what a journey!
I never told y'all this because I was so embarrassed...when I got P-Nut I acclimated her by putting her in a pitcher on the floor and dripping her. My husband came into the room after about 20 minutes and accidentally kicked the pitcher over. She flew out and hit the rug. I freaked out, grabbed her up and threw her in the tank. Scared the shut out of me!!! I chewed my husband out about it for days. She is just fine though. My husband stills tromps around the house and doesn't watch where he's walking...lol! Now I pretty much stay in the vicinity when I'm acclimating my new babies!

Re: 911! 911! 911! 911! 911!
seems crazy that he survived! when i got my new GSP's back about a year ago my filter didnt have the bottom part of the suction tube, so it was just a hole sucking water. after the first day of staring at my 2 new GSP's i went to bed happy as could be. When i woke up in the morning there was only 1. i frantically looked all around the tank assuming hed jumped out, than looked in the filter and he was stuck at the first elbow. i turned off the filter and put the elbow in the tank and shook it around gently to get him out. the second he got some room he puffed into a perfect sphere. his mouth was half out of the water kinda thing so i knew he had some air. i burped him (scary). who knows how long hed been in there? 5 hours? 1? 8? He lived for a few days bumping into things i think his body was fine but he had brain damage. anyway id never felt so bad in my life and am very particular on my setups now and havent lost a fish since. until today!!!!!! came home for the weekend and one of my catfish is just missing. no signs of him, as if i have never had him....??? not on the floor, nowhere. i would assume the cat but a few days ago my gf's mom took the cat! wtf! he was 5 inches long too...not a baby. anyway, just sayin, good job on the fish, i am happy you had a better time than i did when not enough knowledge, gained by experience, played a part in keeping puffers as pets (as it often turns out worse).
