Newbie To Puffer World

Post by bumble71 »

Hello to all.
I am really excited about my South American Puffer I got yesterday, but today it is [flash=]not eating yet[/flash]. Hopefully it will eat the next day.
I am raising (one) SAP in a 15 gallon tank hearty planted for now with (one)Albino Bristlenose Pleco. As far as I can see they are getting along very well with no nipping at the fins from the SAP.

First of all, welcome to TPF!
i Know 4 species of South American Puffer hehehe which one is yours?

Im a photo addict, so i wonder if you can introduce this nice puffer to us ñ_ñ
What are you giving him to eat? live food and frozen mollusks are the 1st choice for puffers!

Welcome to TPF

SAP's are best in groups for 3 or more, they are a schooling puffer that may stress out alone.

They love to swim also. Is it a long tank?
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

SAPs or South American Puffers are Colomesus asellus, the only South American FW puffer.

Yes, "South American FW puffer" ... but nobody specify FW :)

Anyway, learned the fact: SAP is Colomesus asellus. :supercool:

As the aboves, they are very very active and never stops swimming.. just like my 1yr old son.. could not stop moving for a min... They are quite prone to ich imo.. I used to have 4 of them, all got ich shortly when they got home.. but they recovered fine! Just watch out for them!

Welcome!!
