Re: My first pico!
That's also another reason I never did it lol. I can't imagine paying that much for a small tank

Re: My first pico!
So I made a post a few days ago when things got deleted. Anyways....I bought a clump of Chaeto and there was a Stomatells snail in it....I put it in the display and it survived cycling, so I have officially started my clean up crew. Just tested the tank , it is cycled. Nitrates are a bit high for my liking. Gonna get some water from my mom tomorrow and do a 50% partial, clean up a little Algae and hope to add 2-3 more tiny snails. I don't think I'm gonna get a hermit for this tank but would eventually like to add a porcelain crab. Still deciding on a fish. I would like either a Yasha, clown or flaming prawn goby. I REALLY want a flaming prawn goby but I'm not too comfortable putting a $100 fish in such a new, small tank...we shall see. Fragged some Florida Rics at my moms last Sunday. When they grow out they will probably be my first corals. That's pretty much it for now

Re: My first pico!
Yeah, it's probably NOT going to happen. I'm a little scared to put any fish in there. My other option is just sticking with a trio of sexy shrimp and a mini carpet anemone. I've heard they will sometime eat Zoa's though which is no good considering I plan on mostly zoa's, shrooms and rics.xrayjeeper83 wrote:Id be scared as hell to put a 100 dollar fish in a brand new tank

Re: My first pico!
Is it me ot the photo, but that live rock has the face of a pit bull out of bio hazard!
Anyway.. if you got a yasha goby.. you might want to try a pistol shrimp to make a pair. They will require target feeding but it should work out. ** If the rock is on egg crate / on the glass.

LMAO!!!! I can see the pit bull...really purple rock, right? No pistol for me. My mom has one in her 28 gallon and thing tears that tank up! It's always stealing frags and dragging them in it's hole. She can't put anything in the sand. Everytime we put a new shell for her hermits in there the damn shrimp takes then! They are really cool though. I love watching the little guy...he is a bull dozer!!!J-P wrote:Is it me ot the photo, but that live rock has the face of a pit bull out of bio hazard!

Re: My first pico!
Well, the fish never came. My mom (she ordered it) called and the guy told her the fish she ordered were not it stock because he never received them from his distrubuter. So it's looking like my Yasha and snails won't be coming until next week..it's cool though, I don't mind waiting. Tomorrow I'm picking up a loose red shroom from my mom and gonna frag me some zoa's. I'll get some pics when they open. My params are holding steady for the most part. Evaporation is pretty bad but I top off 2x a day and the salinity isn't fluctuating too badly. I'm probably going to end up building an ATO for the tank to help keep it stable. My stomatella is doing well, I'm happy he made it through the cycle. He crawls up to the top of the rock at the same time every night to do his business...lol! The pod population I have is amazing and thriving very well from what I see. I did make the mistake last week of fragging zoa's without gloves but luckily I had no cuts on my hands..I did not know until today just how toxic they are. Tomorrow I will be fragging with gloves and goggles...lol!
