I ve seem them pick them up and poke at them just couldn't tell if they got anything

At first it will be, then you get into a rhythm.

Jungle tabs are my med of choice. They can be dropped into the tank and have the food soaked in them. You should be able to get them at your local Big Al's or order from them online.

You can get specific meds but others will chime in with options.

I tried again from my pc instead of my phone. So should I treat my puffers with the barbs that are in with them now (are they contaminated) Or should I move them out?? I did plan to move the barbs into my other tank to help cycle it with my filter media. Any suggestions or ideas if I shouldn't do that?

Since they've been exposed, you could treat them all together.

Personally I'd move them first, then treat the tanks separately.

The barbs as you know aren't the best tank mates and that little bit of stress may compromise their immune system.

Nice vids BTW. Wait till you see them go HOG for some raw shrimp!

FW fish do not drink water, so medicated water is wasted other than for gill infections. The Ich treatment with salt and heat is effective without the fish drinking - the water does pas over the gills.

SW fish drink copiously, so meds which are stable in water will be taken in with the consumed water. Treated food is still likely to get better absorbed due to the higher concentration in the food.

Erythromycin does not damage nitrification bacteria. It is effective against gram-positive bacteria only. The nitrification bacteria are gram-negative, so unaffected by that agent.

Erythromycin so is that a medication that won't hurt my bacteria ? Sorry that last part was a bit confusing for me . I am going to head to the pet store ASAP to get this underway. I will get all my info ready to post a hospital thread. I would like to start treatment ASAP. I am going to move the barbs into the other 90 g. I planned to do that to cycle the tank. Are these treatments going to kill my bacteria?? My plan is to buy shell on shrimp and medicate that.

Please don't cycle your tank with fish in it.

The medication for IP's is metronidozinal and/or praziquantel. You only soak their food in it, don't add it to the tank.
Brands to choose from are Jungle Paracite clear, Tetra Parasite Guard, API general cure, Seachem Metronidozinal. It will not effect your bacteria because you will be treating the food. The small amount in the water won't be enough to off anything.

Follow the link on RTR's heat and salt ich treatment I posted, that won't effect your bacteria either.

Thanks so much for the help. I bought some jungle tab stuff. Just to clarify I have a canister filter and hob on another 50g that I have had on do months that I will be transferring over

Good luck with your treatment, don't forget the garlic, they tend to not like medicated food. Just break off a small chunk and dissolve in a little dish of tank water, add crushed garlic or garlic extract, and then soak the food for about an hour. If using snails, make a more concentrated solution, use a syringe to squirt it on the snails, then drop in. They tend to dissolve quickly.

I just realized I bought Jungle antiparasite medicated fish food, not the med. Going to have to wait till tomorrow now. The tiger barbs ate some.... but they eat anything. I am going to try shrimp tonight. My hope is to soak that in the meds. I am going to start the salt/heat tonight.
