GOOD GOD. all dreams of hoping to get stationed in CA went out the window, 1500?! I pay 645 for a one bed. .... xray .... -____-;

back on topic, haha. i was just talking to my dad about me going to MD for christmas and he was asking what i'd be doing with Lola. I told him about the thread & the suggestions people have made. I thought that maybe if I premix some water with the right amount of Prime & salt, she could just top off whatever has evaporated, no WC, but if you're going to be gone for possibly four weeks, eehh. :/ any possibility that you could train your friend? haha we all had to learn somewhere, with enough time in advance you could maybe teach her what to do. I taught my fiance how to do water changes with my platies, but i haven't let him do one for Lola since we went brackish. >__>

that went back off topic. oh well.

We pay 710 for the expanded 2 bedroom unit, and it's in a nice part of the city and this is considered a luxury apartment. This is the most we've ever paid for rent. We wouldn't be able to comfortably afford the rock and roll lifestyle of California, so we're living the elevator music lifestyle of South Carolina.

I lived in Clearwater Florida for 19 years, and I must say, Florida is not somewhere I ever plan to call home again. I live in OC CA now and the rent prices Goldie has mentioned are nothing but the truth. My girl and I are looking at 1500 1b's, but they are town houses. I pay 1430 for a 2 BR right now and it's on a "low-income" program that my friend in the office sneaked me into. If I wasn't on the program I would be paying 2100 for the 2 BR! CA is expensive, but the rate of pay is a lot higher than Florida. For example, have any of you ever worked in the restaurant industry?? Back in FL I'm pretty sure they pay less than $4 per/h + tips. Out here in CA the hourly wage of a server is $8.00-8.25 P/HR + tips. HUGE difference, just like the differences in rent prices. Not every place in CA is like that though. ONly if you want to live close to the beach.

LoL this is true. I make $11.50 an hour at my job. But still. If it wasn't for my BF I would still be with the 'rents. I can't make enough on my own as of yet to afford my own place. That is what school is for LoL.

I wish I could say that I didn't live close to the ocean...but I guess I do. I am about 45 minutes away from Santa Cruz, and I guess for most, that's close LOL. We really like the Campbell area though. At least we don't have to worry about getting jumped/raped at night, and everyone in Campbell likes dogs. It's expensive, but we do love it here. And I love it even more now that I know our apartments consider fish tanks "furniture" LOL

When moving the fish what I did when I got the puffer and stuff all I did was I got a 5gal bucket with a lid and filled it half way with water and put the fish in there and i poked a hole in the top of the bucket to put an airline though it to keep the water air rated for the fish!
Fahakas are like dogs! They come up to you and say hi! Or they're just looking for food!

I was born and raised in the San Francisco area, so buying a home there wasn't even an option for a single gal. Median home price there is over $500,000. When my sister and her husband moved to Sacramento, I had a look around and thought, "I can do this." Bought my house in Sacramento in 2001 and it was the best thing I ever did.

And the best part is that nobody can tell me how many fishtanks I can have. (My self-imposed limit is 3 tanks, though. I have 2 at the moment.)
Yo ho, yo ho, a puffer's life for me.

Well what happens when your Fahaka is 12 inches in length?? I don't think he would be comfy in the 5gal! lol
