Never hurt any of my puffers.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Re: Eating the Decor?
Sounds a bit like what my GSP does. Anything new in the tank will be sampled via a bite

Re: Eating the Decor?
Wild caught puffers commonly have plant matrial in their guts. Whether it is selected as itself, or bitten off due a grazing snail being there has not been reported SFAIK (si far as I know), but folks who keep FW puffers and loaches can immediately tell the difference in the bits on foliage plants - puffer bites are round or half-round while loach bites can be distorted three-point stars or triangles, or linear. Those where the bite is observed in captivity tend to be done while capturing a snail on the leaf. In either case, the plant material may well contribute to their nutrition, so is not a bad thing IMHO. Marine puffers tend to have higher levels of plant materials in their guts, and have been observed grazing plants without molluscs being present or noticed. Marine puffers may also nip or consume corals and other sessile inverts, not just mobile inverts.
If I had a puffer nipping and or eating plastic plants, I would remove the plants. Plastics are not nutritious and could be harmful. Ditto for any other decor which they scraped which is not all natural.
