ugh no thanks. I can barely keep up with my two dogs, BF, 3 fish tanks, full time school and 30 hours a week at work. I love my busy life, and I like being just that-- busy. But overwhelmed? LoL nope. I did that when I got my first dog: worked 40 hours at one job, 20 at the other, went to school full time, and saw my new puppy in what little breaks that I had...usually 4am-6:45am (before first job) 11am-12pm (lunch) 3-4pm (in between jobs) 10pm-11:30pm (before I went to sleep). LOL. I still don't know how I did it!

Yay for monies though! I was working 2 retail, now I am working a "real world" job haha. More monies, better work. =D

Off topic:

Went to walmart tonight. We needed a few things and I stopped by the fish section. What a mistake!!! ='( I saw about 20 GSPs in a tiny little display tank-- and one was a sack of bones with fins. It took ALL I had to walk out of there without getting the only little healthy one I saw...he was only about 3/4" big-- so I knew he was a baby baby. If my bf told me I could get a 55 gallon, I would have gotten the two healthiest looking puffs (also the smallest ones). It was the saddest thing I have ever seen. Going to write Wal Mart Corporate. What a bunch of crap! They "need tank buddies' and 1 tsp of aquarium salt per 5 gallons and 10 g min!"

So I put a ghost shrimp in with PZ and they seem to ignore each other. Still like to have a nice little cleaning crew though. Any suggestions? Kinda wanting to get something more than just shrimp...

So PZ isn't some small skinny squirt anymore. Finally looks healthy! I can actually tell now after he (actually I am beginning to think that he is a she, but I am not sure on the sexing of the dps) eats. His little tummy gets a good little bulge and he doesn't look like he's lumpy after he eats. Thanks everyone for all the help and advice!

Thanks guys! I will post up pics soon...hopefully. Been having some water issues with the 10 gallon = / so he is in the 20 gallon right now and utterly amazed at everything in the tank! LoL I hardly ever see him! Will post up pics soon, water is finally starting to go back to normal...

Took PZ out because I had an ammonia spike that never went away. /scratches head. Then the nitrites went up. Did a WC and it lowered every thing, but nothing cleared up. Had the old filter media in the new filter, but the ammonia went up to .25 ppm, and would never go down. After I took PZ and put him in the big tank, took the old media out of the new filter, and and just letting it run now. Things are going back down, but still not at the numbers for a puffer. I did add some Stability to the new filter as a precaution...maybe that hurt more than it helped?

Sounds like something caused a mini cycle. Are you still providing an ammonia source?
My experience with Stability has never caused ammonia. It is widely considered a "rubbish" product. Perhaps the formula has changed, but I can't deny the fact that this product has worked for me in the past. It seems like it may be a different formula, or maybe I had hit a glitch. I haven't had to use anything like that recently as I have several establish tanks to borrow media from.
Anyway, I feel that it's quite likely that the stability had just dumped dead bacteria which caused the ammonia rise .

No KH kit, havent' been able to find one. And the ammonia spike happened right before I took PZ out. That's why I took him out in the first place >< ugh What does KH stand for? Maybe I am missing it...

KH is carbonate hardness. Water that is really low in KH can have trouble cycling. If you do some searching on the forum on KH, RTR explains this very thoroughly in several threads.
I'm not saying that's it, but it's something to consider.

LoL btw, PZ is definitely a female. No eye wrinkles and she has spots. I was looking thru the Pufferpedia today and was totally able to tell the difference. Interesting hahaha
