Re: Help. Snails needed urgently.
I wanted to say a huge thank you to sevenyearnight and JRC3 who both generously gave me some snails to set up a new breeder. Tonight i'm getting some cuttlebone to see if that'll help with keeping them alive/getting those darn snails to breed.
The next two pics are of Vettel, who will hopefully be fattened up in no time.

Re: Help. Snails needed urgently.
I think so, tonight it looked like he ate 2 tiny snails but maybe had a few problems with the larger one, almost like he was hesitant to just dive in there. I tried really hard to fend his buddy off but Button ended up with the bigger snail. Tomorrow i'll separate them at feeding time. At least vettel got the ones that had been dipped in meds. I didn't notice much of a belly on him after he'd eaten though.

Mine wouldn't eat I fed him a rosy crab today they are like 1.25 a pop though but well worth it! He loved it! Hit before it hit the bottom of the tank! He wouldn't touch anything besides earthworms!
Fahakas are like dogs! They come up to you and say hi! Or they're just looking for food!

Fahucker you should try and find some marbled crays to breed

Re: Help. Snails needed urgently.
I have a spare 5 g and some seeded filter media floating in the back of the 20 g, i'm thinking of moving vettel into the 5 g until he gets a little fatter so i can keep a closer eye on him. Then i can drop a few snails in the tank in the morning for him to hunt when he feels like it. This morning i dropped 1 in and had to fight off his bigger buddy which made me late for work.
If i just set the 5 g up and put the filter media into the filter it'll be good to go right?

It's been in there for months, its the media i used to originally seed the 20g, i just never took it out since it is pretty out of sight.

Re: Help. Snails needed urgently.
Vettel getting acclimated to his new 5 g hospital type tank.
I had to wait until today to move him because i didn't realize how chilly it was going to be last night so i had to get a new heater for the tank. So while in petsmart i got some grass for him to hide in and asked the guy (who was much nicer than the lasy from the other day) to fill that bag with as many snails as he could catch. Bless his heart it took him 20 minutes going from tank to tank collecting snails and he managed to get me about 10-15 pond snails. I dumped a few into the 5 g and am putting the rest in the breeder.
This puffer better eat and get fat, if he decides to go to puffer heaven out of spite i won't be happy.

Re: Help. Snails needed urgently.
He's not eating at all. There are a lot of snails in the tank, both bigger and smaller and he's just looking at them. Maybe he can't eat? I have the feeling that i've just moved him so he can spend his last few days in peace and quiet not being bothered by Button. It's the saddest thing i've ever seen.

+1 i would crush a couple for easy eating. If she will feed off anything throw it in even if not medicated. Keep her strength up and hope for the best. Good luck, i am hoping you get through this
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly
