What gender do you call your puffer?

Post by Nuclear_Glitter »

As many of us cannot sex our puffers we make up a gender and name. What gender do you call your puffer? From what I have gathered most people proclaim their puffer a male. Why do you think that is?

Historical chauvinism. It's ingrained that the default neutral gender is male.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Ares-male
Fugu and Gizzy-male
4 of the peas-male, 2-female (for sure)
Bevo-male
Ashera-female
Manson-male
Wally-male
Marty-female
P-Nut-female

I think that covers all of them...lol!
If I had my way Ares would be a female...he was adopted as a boy so it stayed that way and he kept his original name. I personally think he is prissy if you will...maybe he is just metro...

I call my GSP big puffer, and my two dwarf puffers are little puffer and tiny puffer because one is much smaller than the other.

No gender in my names lol

Except for the DPs, whose genders I know, I guess mine are just kind of asexual. I don't really think of the F8s as male or female.

I don't assume sex on my puffers. My names are on pure personality.

I decided my figure-eight was a female :) And call her things such as "Lola," "Miss Lola," "Lolita," and "Fatty."
I named her so because when I read about puffers, & how adorable and yet very aggressive they are, I thought of the concept of a lolita! Pretty, but scandalous :)

...
Maybe also because I have two male dogs & a fiance, it was time for another girl in this house!

My fiance does pick on me about it sometimes though, he likes to tease that "he" is really upset I keep calling "him" Lola. Uuuugh.
