Re: 20G SW FINALLY
Lol no sad
Bacon must be pronounced, or B could be any non-epic name like Barbera or Beth (which are fine people names, but not so great puffer names)

Dude, you don't have to do anything.
She came from freshwater, she's in saltwater now. Just wait it out, the salt will kill it when it's in its free floating stage.

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
More cysts will possibly even emerge over the next few days, but once they fall off, that's when they will be vulnerable and the salt will kill them in that free floating stage. So, it may look worse before it gets better because ich can only be killed in the free floating stage.

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
OK cool, is there anyone of knowing if its the FW or SW type though? I didnt notice anything before today is why im wondering if its the sw variety. Though she is the only fish, other then her its just a few crabs and LR.
I went to my LFS and the guy told me there really isnt much you can do with a reef tank, other then wait it out and just keep your fish eating. I got some vitamins(something ive been meaning to do) and she is acting just fine so im not overly worried......yet
Though this window surfing thing is driving me nuts, neither one of my other puffers ever surfed.

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
If it is crypt, the saltwater version, it would have had to have been chillin in the liverock, this is a very small possibility, but it's unlikely because they need a fish host to survive any prolonged periods of time. Was that piece of live rock in a tank with fish?

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
Gsp's are very prone to window surf. They do this when they are stressed, usually from change or boredom. This would be from change. Just give her time to feel comfortable.

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
No the LFS keeps all his LR in a huge bin with nothing but LR water and a skimmer

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
It's FW ich then. Just wait it out.
Not sure if this will help with Bacon's pacing, but I had to change the position and angle of the circulation pump in the front. It was too hard for him to navigate the rocks the way it was.

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
lol she is only pacing in the current, so really im not 100% sure its pacing and not just playing. Once in a while she will go to the other side of the tank but its not often. Its just up and down in 1 spot right in front of the pump

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
Can this please be moved to the marine puffer section?
She seems to be settling in very well. Its funny to me that she doesnt bother any of the crabs in the tank but as soon as I drop in a crayfish she nailed it, same with a piece of shrimp lol.
She is constantly on the hunt, never slows down. Cant wait to add some more LR to give her more stuff to explore

I'm going to see if I can make it up to Fintastic this weekend to get some little crabs. I hope he doesn't eat them either.

Re: 20G SW FINALLY
If he attacks everything that goes in, maybe add them at night.
I think that because they were there before she was that she just doesnt associate them with food
