Going from brackish to marine with a GSP

Hey,

I have already been collecting various things like a protein skimmer, uv light and a reverse osmoses unit however there is one thing that remains unclear for me in regards to going marine.

I have my green spotted puffer in a brackish tank that is currently around 1.015 sg. When the salinity gets high enough to add live rock should I temporarily rehome my puffer to a big bucket for a week or so? Or even more? Or is the puffer fine in the tank whilst the live rock sets in. And should I add small bits at a time or just replace all the rock with live rock in one go?

I would not remove the puffer, but I would quarantine the liverock in that big bucket. If it's not cured, it would need to be cured as well. Since the liverock should be quarantined, it would be better to put it in the bucket instead of the puffer. I would add a few pieces at a time, I guess whatever amount you can fit in the bucket to quarantine and/or cure. It's much less stress to the puffer, and the rock probably won't care about being in a bucket for a while.

I'm not sure how accurate I am, but I believe a UV filter may kill the pods, and you want those in your tank. Again, I don't know if this is true or not.

Good idea about the liverock in a bucket .

The UV light is one of those inline things attached to the cannister filter outlet if that makes a difference. Since I have the cannister filter I was gonna add some live rock in there as well assuming the LFS was at least right on that part that it was okay to put it in there.
