A horrible question

Post by Christie_ZXR »

I don't want to tempt fate! So cross your fingers, touch wood, salute a magpie, or do whatever you can when you read this please guys!!

Theoretically, if Mushroom should not make it, how would I deal with him? Being poisonous, and definitely wild caught, this has been bothering me a bit. Flushing him to fishy heaven doesn't seem sensible, and burying him where a fox or something could dig him up and get very ill doesn't either. Mushroom is fine today, so no panic at the moment, but obv it'll happen one day, hopefully in 10 years+ time! I just wouldn't know what to do. I know the poison depletes over time in captivity, I just don't know how rapidly, so maybe it's not actually a problem at all?
(Mushroom is a Takifugu Ocellatus)

I would say put him in a plastic container and dig a really deep hole before burying him then put the biggest rock you can find over it.

However, I am hoping Mushroom does make it! =]

Keep positive. :) If you have to ever bury a puffer, I would do it in your own yard if possible. The plastic bag and heavy rock is a good idea, but the body and toxin would break down much faster in just plain dirt.

When he does die (everything eventually does), put him in several plastic bags & a plastic container & either bury or put in the garbage.

I couldn't put him in the rubbish! It just seems so awful! (Yes...I'm aware I'm being a bit silly...)

I'll probs go for the garden and get him a nice little mini headstone! Or a tree :D

*salutes more magpies just incase!!*

Lol, I'd never heard of the saluting a magpie before this post.

It's either an English thing...or just a silly me thing! lol.
If you see a single magpie, you're supposed to salute it and say "good morning mister magpie" for good luck! I've been saluting imaginary magpies for Mushroom all day...

(I'm not mad, I promise you! Honest!!)
