GSP help
Hey everybody, im new to the forum. I recently bought a 3 inch Green spotted puffer. He is in a well planted (fake plants) 20 gallon high but i will be upgrading to 40 breeder soon for his final home. I plan on converting him to full marine. I was wondering if i could see some setups of full marine GSP tanks so i can get some ideas. Also any advice is welcome
Thank you
Thank you
Re: GSP help
I don't have any pictures but I do want to say welcome and it's awesome that you've done research about your fish
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Re: GSP help
Thank you! I did a lot of research ahead of time and then i stumbled across one at my lfs. For 14 dollars even i couldnt pass it up!
I figured if im gonna do a saltwater might as well do a cool puffer. Man i fed it a crab a few days ago and it was demolished in a half hour, he went it for the kill when i was acclimating the crab lol and i havent thought of a name yet. And for future refernce, would there possibly be any corals i could keep with a GSP?

Re: GSP help
I don't have personal experience with keeping puffers and coral together, but I would be inclined to say no as puffers aren't generally reef safe. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new GSP!

Thank you Reaper, i had a feeling they wouldnt be reef safe lol especially after seeing what he did to that crab. Im looking forward to setting up his new home. Just hope i can find a cheap protein skimmer
Re: GSP help
I've heard of success with leathers but anything else would probably just be a waiting food supply.

I agree with flutter, from what I have heard leathers must taste bad lol
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Check out this thread. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=28119&st=0&sk=t&sd= ... ecorations
Pufferpunk has a GSP tank with all artificial decorations that looks amazing! You can have the tank look great without a need for live coral.

Wow that looks pretty sick. What should i feed him also? he is only about 3 inches and is eating frozen bloodworms, a shrimp pellet or 2 (not shrimp food) and the weekly treat of a crab or frozen crawdad

Re: GSP help
Puffers teeth grow fairly quickly, and need to be word down with tough food like snails, and other things that go "crunch". There is a great article on feeding in the library.

Re: GSP help
Whenever I hear about leathers and how they must taste bad, I always think of the movie "The Doors", the part where Pamela is giving Jim a hard time about wearing his leather pants constantly, and that they were stinky.bertie 83 wrote:I agree with flutter, from what I have heard leathers must taste bad lol
