ya all of these options work. what i do is just put it in a bucket of water until its waterlogged. usually takes a few days. than it will sink on its own. thats always worked for the wood ive found.

It all depends on the wood... I had this one huge piece of std. Big Al's driftwood, and it had a huge piece of slate screwed to the bottom and it still floated, I let it float for a week and it still didn't sink; I gave up on it and picked up some real driftwood that was so dense it sunk by its self, no presoaking. The only downfall is after 2-3 years it still tints the water yellow/brownish.

I have a beautiful piece of mopani that was in a tank for 6 months and never sunk. It was a pita to clean the tank...I had rubberbsnd holding rocks to it and they always broke when I moved it...didn't have any luck tying rocks to it either...I'd move it and the rocks would come off...I love that piece of wood..I'll figure out something one day!

Ive got a piece that ive had for over a year that still is floating, I gave up trying. Moved it to my crab tank and he loves it, he never leaves it lol. It works for a floating land mass and has a cave like spot on the underside for him to hide(when he isnt hiding in the dang filter)

Once again try the fishing line. You can ever pick power pro braided up pretty cheap! Wont hurt the fish either! It is made out of cotton so really it is somewhat digestible unlike rubber bands and other stuff.

Large pieces can take months to waterlog. or years for the huge chunks.

I never under any circumstances use monofilament line in my tanks. They can be death traps for suckermouth catfish, I lost my only female of a not-previously bred dwarf to monofilament and banned it from all my tanks.

why not superglue it? may be the best option

Superglue degrades over time, it is only a temporary fix in an aquarium setting.

I eventually gave up on trying to waterlog my own wood, and have used Mopani Hardwood in all of my tanks without any problems aside from the normal fuzz. I would suggest ditching trying to waterlog it, unless you are super patient, and instead investing in mopani or another of the hardwoods.

There are aquarium-safe woods, generally hardwoods. I would just shy away from anything you pick up in a field or off the beech you know?

Some wood sold at pet shops are only meant for reptile tanks.

hey i heard the big als where you're from is really nice. one of the first if im not mistaken...??? the one here in kitchener is privately owned so it has a bit different selection and outlook, come check it out sometime if you havent already. and those pieces of wood with the slab screwed to the bottom arent cheap! thats too bad it still floated. i was looking at them today and for the one i was liking it was $99.99. i thought, hmmm i think ill build this for free.
