Arrowhead Puffer

I will be getting a arrowhead puffer today or tomorrow, i keep a brackish tank for figure 8 puffers and have a 25 gallon freshwater tank ready for the arrowhead. Does anybody have one of these and any tips?

I can't find much information on them other then the basics, does anyone know any detailed sites around these puffer fish.

Well i don't have sand in my tank i have fine blue gravel and some larger than fine blue and white gravel, i do still have about a inch of sand under then gravel for my plant roots to get into. Will this be ok if i put a cave/hide in?

How fine of a gravel are we talking? they don't bury as much as congos do so as long as he can bury through it without hurting himself it should be fine. If I were you I would check to make sure he is burying occasionally and also later that he isn't getting all scratched up from the gravel.

What in stock of food do you have? Sometimes it's difficult to get lurkers to take dead food since so earthworms are a good starting food since they usually can't resist a good wiggly worm. When you want to get him on dead food you can try to feed him dead food on a string (maybe soaked in garlic extract and make it dance in the filter stream) if he doesn't go for it starve for a few days and try again.

IME, they do bury as much as a Congo, right up to their eyeballs & it will be much easier to do this in a 3" sand bed.

Ok The arrowhead arroved this a few hours ago and has been in my tank since, Looks very healty and has been posted to me so im happy with that, it is layed on the gravel i will make a video and get some pics soon and show you the gravel and my tank, mabie anyone can see if i need anything ect.
The only problem is that the F8 puffer is still in the tank, my other tank has a leak and my friend couldn't make it last night or yesterday. The f8 can be moved in about a hour and it never stops moving so i think it should be fine.

The suvetttii has stayed in the same spot it has not gone in the cave or cheaked the tank out. When the two ghost shrimp go near the arrowhead it starts to get exited and gets ready to attack them. I will take the F8 out now and keep it in a container just in case ive just seen him move towards the puffer when it swam overhead.

I have live bloodworm, tubifex, brine shrimp daphina right now, there is a few shrimp in the tank that he can eat. Will he eat any of them four? Should i feed him/her live fish?

Looks like a change in gravel to sand might be in order. Hope the F8 surives until you can move him. He/she is looking good. Feeder fish aren't advised but as a last restore make sure you have quarantined them. Here is another great link on feeding.

arrowhead, dont use live fish as they tend to be fatty and will cause problems for your arrowhead.

I hope you have a divider in there, otherwise your F8 is doomed! Is that tank BW? It doesn't sound like very good planing to me.

No it's not brackish i only bought the figure 8 one week ago and it has come from freshwater, the next owner will aclimatise to brackish. The f8 is out of the tank i took the vid after i put the suvattii in.
