Re: Very rare fish
Another way to look at it is, do we get a few and attempt breeding? Apparently small and shrinking ecosystem....

If you have knowledge of their breeding habits/needs then sure. But since they are rare that is unlikely, and again should be left to professionals, who have biologists on site.Dadof4 wrote:Another way to look at it is, do we get a few and attempt breeding? Re: Very rare fish
I looked it up, I thought the same thing too about offering a rare fish to the hobby world, and this fish is listed Least Concern, as it's IUCN Red List Status . I think it's just a difficult fish to catch.
Am I the only one that thinks that fish just really isn't awesome looking enough to be 5K?
Does it sing? Maybe that's it, it's a singing fish. I'd ship it back though if all it knew were Justin Bieber songs.

Re: Very rare fish
on another forum the go through that site on a regular basis and pull / link all the odd ball high ticket fish like this and make jokes about it. I am surprised that no one had seen this previously.

Re: Very rare fish
Hopefully it is just rare in the trade.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Why make a down payment on a house when you can have an Australian flathead perch?

Re: Very rare fish
Liveaquaria tends to be quite pricey, but they are good on their 14-day arrive-alive stay-alive guarantee. I've bought several fish from them before, and once, they even extended the guarantee to 30 days as I struggled to keep one of their fish alive. Even so, I could never justify spending that much on a fish unless I were going to attempt breeding them in a professional setting.
It's a crayfish! It's a snail! It's a... ah who cares?
