Buzz's 1st Digital Pics!

Post by Reaperpilot2014 »

Hello! This is Buzz, a healthy Fahaka puffer and the newest addition to our household. He's currently 2", and so far has only accepted live snails, cherry shrimp, and marmorkrebs (He is a lobster connoisseur and eats the tail only though lol). He's currently housed in a 150 gallon setup with sand and random plants I bought from Petco during an overstock sale. I would like to put real plants in the there in the future, if I can establish the fact that he won't uproot them, which is unlikely. Buzz loves to burrow in the sand at night to sleep, and also immediately after a meal.

Buzz lazing about.

He LOVES bubbles!

Image
He is very camera shy and will almost always hide his face if he sees the camera.

He says, what is this creature in my tank?

I am new to digital photography and want to thank xray for helping me learn how to use photobucket. Any ideas or suggestions for clearer photos are also appreciated. All photos taken with a Nikon Coolpix S4000 in a clear underwater case.

I'm already wondering how to make them smaller. Half the picture is cut off.

Great looking Fahaka. I need to get a bubbler in my tank maybe bloat would play in it

As for smaller pics there is a spot in photobucket before you upload that lets you pic the size. Its below the spot that has twitter/facebook/etc. It says customize your upload options, I have mine set at 640x480

Buzz is wonderful! Looks like he's enjoying his new home very much.

My puffers turn their backs on the camera, too.

Wow! Your fahaka is really dark in color! Mine is A LOT lighter than that! Great looking fish!

Someone here posted that the color and stripe differences could mean gender differences too.

I believe in this instance it is due to the substrate colour. In my gallery you will see pics of 2 very different colour fahakas. However it is the same fish on different substrates. Sand colour substrate will give a pale fahaka. Dark or multicolour substrate will generally give a darker fahaka
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

That was my hope with the substrate. When I first put him in, he was very light colored and blotchy, so I'm just glad he's settled in. I would like to see him with some nice maroon and green when he(or possible she) gets older. I may change the substrate to a deeper red with a higher % of black sand as time goes on.

i used to have black sand, with that no red was visible he was real dark. I now use sand colour substrate and hes awesome. However pp uses a very different colour substrate which works brilliantly

PP, I can't seem to get to your gallery, but I can get to other peoples' galleries. It shows a broken picture for each of your photos. I'd love to see your puffers.
