Tank Seal...

So I am buying this 225-235g set up from an aquarium store that just opened up they refurbish tanks and such and sell them pretty cheap they do good work. The 225 was sealed and they let it cure for 3 days then water tested it. Well the water was in there for 24hrs and they water test it for 5-7 days before reselling them so pretty much the seal failed and I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can go pick up the tank and set up.... Sad day for me. I did more Sol down stairs still in his 40g since I have no control over what happened to the tank of course. Anything I can do to help relieve some stress since I moved his tank? Also would water out of the hose be ohk to fill that 225g tank up when I get it?

It's too bad he will be housed in such small conditions, but like you said, what happened was out of your control.

Using a hose would definitely make filling you tank easier, eh? I'm assuming your hose water is irrigation, well, or other water that has never had chlorine added to it.

Despite not having chlorine, I would still be cautious about just plopping a fish in there, especially a puffer. Water can still have metals, and due to the lack of chlorine or fluorine, bacteria, parasites, algae, and other microorganisms may make it into your tank. It's the other edge of the sword, you just have to decide. Most of the water conditioners out there treat for metals and harmful chemicals, so it might still be worth it to use them.

To ease his stress, I would do daily water changes of 35%-50%. Super filtration is a must. If you have the filter(s) you are going to use for your 225g, you could set them up and start getting them cycled as well.

Using the hose is fine, add prime straight to the tank. The filters for the 225 gal would cause a whirlwind in that small tank so probably not a wise move. I would buy something else rather than wait if it was me.

flush out the hose thoroughly first, especially if it's had water sitting in it for any length of time

Nope it comes from the house same water we drink I believe. But AZ water sucks in general. But no worries I have SUPER FILTRATION going on! I have a 45gal canister filter going and its a 40g tank and I have another filter thats for a 10-20 gal tank so its getting a lot of water filtered so no worries! I am ordering prime and other things for the tank such as drift wood fake plants and such.

Just a reminder the puffer isn't even 3 inches yet so even though a 125 is recommended he seems to do all right in the 40 for now. So really I am not to worried about space he has plenty to roam around.

that sucks man. I use a hose at my gf's house since the out side source is the same as the inside water. I just went and get a new hose just to be safe\

You know what man! I actually tested the water between the hose and faucet the water form the hose is actually better than the water out of the faucet!!! Which is crazy! I tested the water from the tank and compared tests from before too! The water parameters are actually near perfect!!! Which makes me super excited! Still water changes every week!

Yeah pretty much! I just need to find that other 20G filter and put if on the 40G so I can have some more filtration!

Well I got rid of the chicilid since he was an a hole to all the other fish so its just a bala shark which i am getting rid of and a bichir and two cory catfish lol... i gave him to my buddy and he fed him to his dogface lol i didnt know he was going ot but he did!

Wow I would be totaly pissed at a so called friend who would do that to one of my fish without my knowledge. There would be no lol....

Well I almost flushed him couldn't find anyone to take him and he was hurting the puffer. So I gave the cichilid to him and thats what happened, but he had bought the fish in the first place and gave him to me when he switched to saltwater.

it never ceases to gnaw at me that while some of us will anguish over how to humanely dispatch a terminally sick or injured fish, others will flush or feed an otherwise healthy fish to something else in order to "get rid of it"
