New Palembang!

Post by Srkoe »

Same story, different day!!! Went to the LFS they had 2 Palembangs. One looked ill, skinny and hazy eyes. Two tanks down there was a very healthy one. I've never seen one before in real life. They had them labeled as Black River Puffers...of course I used the pufferpedia to investigate. Well, of course I brought him home. He's gonna be living alone in a 55 gallon. Any helpful hints from anybody about his care would be appreciated. I'm so excited to have a lurker! Gonna build him a nice cave tonight. I have got to quit going to this particular LFS...everytime I go there I leave with one more family member than I went in with!

Here is the pic I took at the store...they obviously don't clean algae! The picture is distorted because of the angle I took it at. Who could resist that face!!!!

It looks like a turgidus. Mine looked like that when I first introduced it into my tank.

And there was recently another person who bought a "black river puffer" and it really was a turgidus.

He does look more like a turgidus. Either way, I'm happy. I'll try to get some better pictures soon. He has a large bullseye near his tail.

He looks a lot like a Fangs as well. I'm confused now...maybe just have to wait until he grows up to see how big he gets.

Thanks PP. I thought so. I do have a question. What color should his belly be? Manson's is gray...is that alright? Everything I have read states that turgidus typically stays still most of the time. Manson is ALWAYS swimming. He is more active than my F8's. I have fed him everyday since I've had him. Maybe not enough? I expected a very lazy puff and got the opposite.
