Cleaned the 10 gallon ramshorn snail tank last night. I ordered 50 BB-sized snails a few weeks ago, and have about 10 left after feeding the rest to the F8s -- but there are teeny-tiny little ones sprouting up all over the tank.

I had thought I might need to re-order snails about once a month, but it's possible that it might be somewhat self-sustaining. Probably will need to supplement the supply periodically, though.
Yo ho, yo ho, a puffer's life for me.

Found my Copperband butterfly dead in his tank today. Had him 4 years. His bluespot puffer friend looks sad...

Added my C. Vallenini. And some Crypt too, looks like. Daaaaaang. Y'all gonna be hearing more about that ish... but I wont hijack the thread heh heh... Sorry you had a loss PP.... My DP that had IPs died yesterday too... The meds I asked my LFS guy came too late. That's 3 puffs I've buried to date... And I DO bury them with my cats and other pets that have passed on, in the side yard. NOT something I'd do with most fish... I'm sure you guys all understand. SOOOOO.... Anyone dealt with crypt in a semi-reef situation have any advice on how to not nuke my inverts when all I have for a QT/treatment tank is a 10g with a 4 inch Toby AND a baby Clown? thanks in adv

I'm trying to figure out what to put in with the bluespot now. Hubby said he still looks lonely.

you lucky s.o.b. My girlfriend and family think my fish "obsession" is stupid and I constantly get made fun of for my fish keeping hobby, so everything I have is purchased myself.

anyway I finally got my all glass hood for my 20L and my 30" T5ho fixture is on its way, just ordered it last night. As soon as I get that I'll be ready to move my F8 Albie into his new home, hopefully he likes it. I'm wanting to buy some rock for the tank though, so far I have 3 medium pieces of driftwood and a mangrove root decoration and thats it.

With the help of my lovely dad i finally got my 20g dp tank moved off my kitchen bench and onto it's new stand in my dining room. It looks great and will get more natural light. It's sunny though, my fat dp button is usually pretty colourless, she has hardly any colour on her spots but as soon as i moved her into a small holding tank she coloured right up. Now she's back in her home she's gone back to normal.

Do you think maybe she feels uncomfortable in such a big tank? I've heard some people have to put pictures on the back of their tanks to help the fish feel more secure. Also sometimes substrate has something to do with it.

Did a water change on my abei's tank. Went to restart the filter and got nothin. So I grabbed a back up filter and moved all the media over and realized i should have had the back up on the whole time. The back up seems to move more water then the first one. Which is weird cause the first says it moves 200ghp the new one says 120ghp. But either way it works so good.

I did clean up the old one and it started working again so it will become the back up now.

I'm going to section it into smaller sections, but want to be prepared to use it in case my Fahaka ever needs it. I never want to stick him in anything smaller, even for a little while. It's worth the extra cost in meds to keep him healthy. Hopefully I'll never need to.
