Spray bar

So I just added a spray bar to my eheim canister filter and I noticed after a little while that it was whistling a tad, so I slowed the flow a little and it stopped.
Would this whistle bother the fish any? I'm asking because I liked the high flow, especially for my puffer.

I doubt they will worry about a whistle. Which eheim is it?

It might bother then if its in the water, if its not in the water i dont think it will. But my guess would be that its not put together tight enough and allowing air to be sucked in.

I think that xrayjeeper83 may be right. I have and use a lot of Eheim spray bars - they are one of the best tools for controlling currents and water flow in tanks. If the spray bar is mounted above the water, there will always be some splashing and its associated noise, but a whistle is not normal spraybar noise from these units IME. I would check all the output connections and make sure they are well connected and there is no trapped air inside the spray bar itself.

When a new setup is first started, it can take me some weeks to get the currents and spraybar just where I want them to be. Beyond that only long-period brushing (inside and out) seems to be required for me , say once or twice a year.

alright I'll try to make the connection tighter or something along those lines.
It is kept submerged, I don't like the splashing noise it produces.
Also its an eheim ecco, smallest model. I got it when I bought a 20 gallon for $50 and it was included so I got about a $100 filter for cheap.

I use several eccos, I tend not to attach a spray bar, I simply aim the outlet at a slight angle at the front, this creates a good current along the front and a little splashing helps aeration of the water.

I do try to avoid splashing -I hate salt/mineral creep. Decent current at the surface and good circulation at normal temperatures should not require any splashing to provide good even aeration. At elevated temperatures, you might need a bit of surface break. I am also massively anti-noise. I allow a bit in the tank room, but in living areas, all tanks must be seen and very definite\y never heard.

That is all just personal preference, not a tank-keeping rule

As far as aeration goes In all my tanks I tend to have a bubbler directly under the outlet of the filter

there are no bubbles coming out of the spray bar which is what I don't understand, I moved the tube onto it so about an inch of the tube is covering the bar, so I know its pretty damn tight. Right now I adjusted the flow to prevent the whistle, I don't know what else I can do, I might just take it off and put the nozzle back on but I like spray bars more. I'm also ordering new tube thinking that may have something to do with it, but I'm almost positive that it has nothing to do with it. Any more suggestions would help.

I would think for a whistle sound to be made, you'd need air. Did you check ALL the connections, from intake thru filter, to output?

Got rid of it, apparently the tube was pinched together just a tiny bit and caused it to whistle, so I figured out how to chang it and did so. No whistle anymore yay!

Bubbles are not necessary for aeration under normal conditions and are noisy and messy. Current is all that is needed. Mother Nature does not provide air pumps.
