I just purchased my first GSP tonight after doing extensive research on them. Bought him from Walmart (yeah sad how they treat their fish), but i have him set up in a 20 gal and hes happy as could be.
Anyway the purpose of this post is to let you know I had a very long and pleasant conversation with an older lady who worked at the Walmart and had fish tanks of her own. I briefed her a little more about the puffers they sell.
Eventually I told her about how the puffers need snails and i asked her how much she would charge for the tiny snails they had an abundance of, well she told me that they give them away for free and I could have as many as I like and
she gave me her hours to come in to get more from her when ever I need. So just in case anyone is or was as nervous about finding a unlimited hard food source for their puffer as I was, maybe your Walmart will be as kind
and set you up with a great deal! I also bought one prawn which I'm gut loading for him to have.
Also this is my first post haha, Nice to meet everyone!
Good news for hungry puffers!

Lots of LFSs do give away free snails.
The problem is, most places don't have disease-free livestock, so you'll have to quarantine those snails before feeding.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

20 Gallon tank, put in aragonite live sand, added rock fixture and plastic plants, then water. Used prime to dechlorinate. Have marine land filter with bio wheel. let it run for two days.
Now i need help to start conversion to brackish, which is why i just put up my other post. Also have 4 ghost shrimp which have been cleaning and he rarely bothers, and have been removing his scraps after eating. All comments and help is welcomed, thank you!

Was the live sand fresh from a tank? If not, the bacteria in it will be dead. And if it was from a saltwater tank (which is where you see the term "live" sand), the fresh water will kill the bacteria anyway.
