New and carious about "freshwater" puffers

Hey guys, I only recently bought a 2" F8 puffer last month and I was wonder about the so called "freshwater" puffers. I heard baby puffers as babies can survive in pure fresh water but later need to live in brackish or fully SW. My question about the matter, is if that is true and how long could they live in pure fresh water before they need to be moved into BW or SW?

A 2" F8 is far from bring a "baby", as they only grow to 3". It needs to be in BW now.

I currently have it in a Brackish setup, I also removed the danios and barbs. I was asking primary about baby puffers or pea puffers.

Thanks for the link, I appreciate it. LOL its been difficult navigating the forum after days but Iam getting use to it now. Its pretty cool to see all the different species of FW puffers.

Stores are wrong in their suggestions for puffer care more than they are correct. Puffers are a family of largely marine fish, with some members/species who have fully adapted to FW. A few stay or visit the full range of water conditions throughout their life, but even those in captivity tend to do best (are healthiest, grow to full size, and live longest) ib one particular water type. The PufferPedia here specifies which conditions are best for each fish with which we have enough experience to know.

Yeah, once you learn your way around though it's pretty easy
