My GSP's eye sight. kind of worried

Oh no! Sick fish?! Come here and see if someone can help!

Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.

1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.

2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.

3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)

4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.

5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.

We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.

While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.

Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

If adding bacteria helped your puffer, then your parameters had to be off. What were the exact test results? What "bacteria" did you add?
I got it tested at petsmart, everything was 0 and the ph was like in between 7-8. the stuff I put in was called zyme. it was a shelf life but being where I am it was the best I could get and they recomended it over the tetra safe start stuff or whatever its called

can you send me a link to that page, I cant find it. thanks

I know it's hard to do, because they have polo shirts on and seem so sure, but you can't listen to the advice of petsmart employees. I worked at one years ago, and their training is biased, and mostly wrong. Please get tetra safe start, it will work as long as your pH is 7.0 or above.
Your nitrate should show some reading, but since I know they use test strips, they can't read nitrate below 20 ppm.

LOL, they won't let me work at Petsmart because I have tattoos but they'll let some HS kid with no experience give advice, with no tatts!
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I work at petsmart in 1999 in Oregon, but last year, Petsmart cost me my job with Blue Buffalo. They called corporate and said my hair style, which they called a mohawk, was not acceptable. It was military cut, I ride a little scooter and always wear a helmet, so I couldn't have a mohawk if I wanted to. But because I live in the south now, girls apparently can't have a guy's hair
cut.
I used to have a mohawk, so it's not like I wouldn't know that it wouldn't be an acceptable haircut. Anyway, it was a standard military cut, buzzed all the way around back and sides , about 3" inches long on top. That's a surlaW mohawk if it is one.

I don't get it... sorry very off topic. If a company gives you a bad review as opposed to a "no comment" isn't that grounds for a civil suit?

It would be, if I were employed by Petsmart. But I was employed by Blue Buffalo, and I'm a guest in the Petsmart. They can have no reason at all to tell them I'm not welcome, it's part of their contract. Blue Buffalo didn't terminate my employment, but Petsmart was 2/3rds of my work load, I resigned because I would have only been working for 4 hours in another city at Petco. Petsmart made it a point to say I was also not welcome in any stores in the district.
My guess is that they flat out didn't like me because I'm not from the south by a long shot, and I'm just a very different sort of person.
