I thought I lived in Canada

Post by Flutter »

It's 122F here or for the rest of us 49C. Work was cancelled so I only worked a half day and get paid for a full one :) I went to the barn this morning to hose my horse down and feed him electrolytes however he thought that it was better to drool it all on me. Now I'm left debating whether or not I should drive back out to hose him down again. If he wasn't afraid of water I'd go and ride him into the river. Silly horse.

How is everyone else faring?

HOLY COW, 122? Dang! It's in the mid-90s here. It wouldn't be so bad if the air conditioning worked right...
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Folks, make sure to drink lots of water. As they say: "8 ounces. 8 glasses. 8 days a week."

I've been drinking iced Orange Zinger tea by the bucketful! My room runs about 85, even at night, so I always take a tall glass with me to bed.

Oh, I live in Canada and the heat this past week (in Winnipeg) has been sick. Easily hitting 100's with a humidity that makes you feel likt you're in a sauna. My AC is running around the clock.

Run AC, heat tanks... Turn off AC, stop heating tanks... Hmmmmm.... I think I'll keep the AC on and heat the tanks.

I must be an oddball, but i absolutely LOVE temps past 90f with soupy humidity. That's why my high school football team usually won, we drilled in hellish conditions, heh heh.
29 Gallon Marine tank, with refugium, skimmer. Base rock, coral skeletons. Stock: Baby Ocellaurus Clown, young Saddled Toby, 3 Hermit crabs, one 2 inch Bristle Worm, hitch hiking starfish.

10g Biotope. 3 C. Travancoricus (Dwarf Puffer) Some Ghost shrimp, gravel/sand substrate, heavily planted with Swords and Java Moss.

10g LR Culture Tank. 10+ pounds fiji LR / base rock. Assorted hitch hiking inverts

Some FW tanks.

In My Experience, Fishkeeping is like Cooking. Five or ten basics will keep anyone from getting sick. But to be truly magnificent... You have to know the right Recipies.

I visited my sister who lives in Las Vegas recently, and its actually more comforatable out there in the Mojave than it is here in the Ohio valley because the air is dry. This humidity makes things that much worse. Good thing my house has an oversized air conditioner - I could crank it up and hang meat in this joint if I wanted to.
