weird gsp behavior

Post by drj1259 »

My GSP has recently started displaying a weird behavior. He/she is in a 55 gal FOWLR tank with ammonia-0 nitrite-0 nitrate-10-20. So i have started to notice him swim up to the cord from the powerhead bite it and swim away REALLY fast he does this 5 or 6 times in a row then stops... you think he could be snackin on stuff?? if so why is this the only spot he hits and also is it possible for him to expose wires if he keeps this up?? he is hitting it pretty hard dont want him to chomp down and expose wires

Get something to protect the wire, or keep him from biting the cord, he *can* bite through it. Inspect it for damage, remove if you see any.

I agree--protect the wires. Also, how much LR do you have in there? Protein skimmer?
