My f8's won't eat snails.
I have two f8's in a 30 gallon tank that o have had for about a year and a half. They have not and will not eat snails. At least none that I gave tried to feed them. So I have been feeding them a diet alternating between krill, blood worms, mysis shrimp, clams on the half shell, and occasionally ghost shrimp and even a fiddler crab. Is this ok? And is this sufficient enough to wear their teeth down?

The clams will help. Have you tried crushing the snails?

What kind and size are the snails? Beyond that, +1 to PP's question.

I have not tried crushing them. I have tried a couple kinds of small nerites, and rams horns.

Try pond snails, about the size of their eye.

Really, pond snails? I heard their shells were to hard and would hurt their teeth

They'll be the pest snails on the plants.

Re: My f8's won't eat snails.
Definitely crush the snails. My F8s don't know what to do with intact snails -- they act curious for a few moments, then abandon them. Crushed snails, however, don't even make it to the bottom of the tank when I drop them in!
