full marine tank????????

Post by duked »

hey guys just curious about something! i have three GSP's and one F8 in the same tank as brackish at about 1.012 and i want to take my GSPs to full marine and i was wondering if i could do that with the F8 as well or would that kill him? i know he is supposed to stay in low brackish but just wondering if it has been done? what the effects on your fish were? if he lived/died.......etc

P.S. all my GSPs are walmart rescues....F%$#&%# walmart!!!!

The gsps will eventually kill him if the water doesnt best kept separately
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

They are not mature fish. Things will change as they mature. Six months is not long in a ~15 or morte year captive lifespan.

ya split those up.

A F8 really shouldnt be in water with a SG higher then 1.005 or so

+1 to all comments. GSP are very aggressive and get more so with age/sexual maturity. there are more passive ones that will allow tankmates but i wouldnt keep anything with it that you care too much for cause one day it could very well be gone. puffers are known to snap and take out everything in the tank if they decide its time for it to go. F8 require completely different salinity as well. they will live in full marine, but for a much shorter period of time than they will live for in low end brackish

what size is the tank they are currently in? any other tankmates?

My LFS keeps their F8's in full marine. They seem to be happy every time I visit.

I was at the Walmart today, and they had about 12-15 GSP's. All of which had ick and were very miserable looking. I felt so bad for them. The biggest one in the tank was about 2 1/2 inches long, and was lying dead in the middle of the tank. That place is diabolical.

Your tank is way overstocked already, since GSPs require a minimum of 30g ea. Mine would have been happy alone in a 55g.
