im headed to florida for a few days and theres always nice sized rocks in and sticking out of the water around the canals and such but can i use these rocks in my freshwater tank just for decoration?...i also have a large conch shell that i found on the beach years ago that i wanted 2 put in there.
i was just wondering if this was possible...how should i wash them off and things like that

Re: question about outside rocks
Id boil the shell and place the rocks in a bucket of some kind and just pour boiling water over them and let them sit in the hot water. that should kill off any nastys living on/in the rock. Dont boil the rock cause if it has any air pockets or water pockets it could explode.
And thinking more some people have put the rocks in the oven i do believe to kill bad stuff
