Me too! I like the idea of RTR sleeping on a bright yellow banana shaped water bed. In fact, a picture of that could be a great avatar/profile pic since he just has the gray X of neutrality right now.

It is banana tree bed along beside the turn-around of our lower driveway for about 45 feet, it is about 6' across, and is planted with winter-hardy banana trees (Musa basjoo). They are killed back to the ground in the winter, but regrow in the summer to taller than the second floor deck that overlooks them, but generally not quite up to level of the roof peak. It gives the place a tropical look which I love, and which is uncommon in USDA zone 6B along the same ridge as Camp David in exurban MD. Under this management the trees do not fruit, but are not edible bananas anyway (they are grown in Japan and China for their fibers - very long and strong), so that matters not. They are pretty low-care other than watering. I used to do a few edible-fruit banana plants elsewhere, but they have to come in for the winter. Now I usually just do a few of the more ornamental non-hardy types for something less green. The big bed is a solid wall of green with huge leaves and thick trunks. So I do a few non-hardy red-leafed cultivars for contrast elsewhere.

In summer, the garden get more attention than the tanks.

It is pretty country around here, but getting a bit more development than I would like. It no longer gets as dark as it should and used to do, as a result of light pollution.
