Pufferfish are territorial predators and are best kept alone. Your masked puffer will not tolerate an intruder in 'his' aquarium.

I wouldnt be so sure ElScorpio, I used to keep an SnS Puffer with a GuineaFowl Puffer and a Ceylon all the same tank! All without any casualties and they all get on very well together. As it is well known that Dogface puffers are very calm and laid back so they get on well with most other fish inc. other dogface puffers. Mixing Dogface Puffers with Porky Puffers may not work tho. However if you want to keep more than one dogface together then you will have to ensure you have a large enough aquarium so that all the puffers have space to swim and also do not mix dogface puffers of the same species. So maybe have a masked puffer and narrow lined puffer or a masked puffer and nigropunctus puffer are good combos and will get on well, especially if they are similar size!

The Stars and Stripes grew from 4.5 " to 10 " in about 1.5years, they all lived in a 4x2x2 tank. But the SnS outgrew the tank and he had become the dominant feeder taking all the food to himself! So I moved him onto a guy who has an 18ft FOWLR tank.  So he went to a better place in the end :)

I still have my ceylon and guineafowl puffer and I replaced the SnS puffer with an Emperor Angel, all the fish are now the same size so everything has balanced out nicely. I still have the 4x2x2 Tank

I suppose it ultimately depends on each individual specimen, but dogface puffs can be especially vicious towards each other. After some of the horrific injuries I've seen from two dogfaces fighting (dog fight?) I wouldn't risk putting two together, but that's just me.

By the way, how big is your ceylon now?

Just pushing 5 inches, hes a slow grower. IDK why but in the time it took my SnS to grow 6 inches; my ceylon only grew about 2.5 inches?
