Hi From Colorado

Post by MeowMeow »

Hello to all Puffer fans!

I need advice asap, please. I have never had a Puffer but my good friend would like one. This would be her first Puffer also. I have been reading lots of info on this site, which has been extremely helpful, but I would like to get some live expert advice.

Which Puffer do you think would be the best?

Thanks so much!

It all depends. What size tank are you looking at? How much money are you willing to spend? Do you want a high-matience fish tank? Do you salt water? Fresh water? Brackish water? Do you want a little puffer, medium or large? Gotta give us some info! Have you been a previous fish owner?
Noobs, it takes one to know one.

Welcome, you left this way to open to even start helping you.

Tank Size?
Fresh, brackish, salt?
Big or small puffer?
newbie to fish or years of experience?
lots of money to spend or on the cheap?

Sorry I left it so open. Here are some details:

- No experience
- Freshwater to brackish
- Small of tank as possible (15-20?) with all equipment neccesary
- 1 small to 1 med. Puffer
- no other fish with Puffer at this time

Hope this helps. Thanks to ya all again!

well Id say fresh , get a 20g with a good filter(looking for 10x turn over) and get 4 dwarf puffers, 1 male 3 females.

If you went brackish you could get a figure 8 puffer in a 20g, same good filter, and the specific gravity at 1.005 or near that would be great.
