Not sure which puffer to get

Post by Adam_C »

Hi Guys,

I have recently purchased my first tank its a Fluval edge tank so 29litres and i have a heater etc. i really want a couple of puffers but not sure which species to get as i know some can grow quite big and thats not good for my small tank. my local aquatics shop mentioned Colomesus psittacus as a good fish to get. does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thank you i cant wait to get my little puffer!!

You could get a dwarf puffer. I'm not aware of any other species that would be ok in that small of a tank.

29 liters = about 7.5 us gallons so you'll only be able to get 2 or 3 Dwarf Puffers (make sure you either get all females or 1 male and 2 females)

I also have no clue why a 12" puffer was suggested for a 7 gallon tank.

with only 7.5 gallons you can only do 2 DPs at most, and thats the way i would go
