can lights be too bright for puffers??
i've had these crappy dull yellowish lights for my green spotted puffer's tank for a while now and tried putting fluorescent spiral bulbs in today and they make everything SO much clearer and nicer and really bring out his colors. i really like the way they make the tank look, i'm just wondering if they'll be too much for the little guy? can lights be too bright for GSPs? will they stress him out at all?

I doubt it, there are people running 10k watt bulbs for plants

10k is the color spectrum not the power consumption.xrayjeeper83 wrote:I doubt it, there are people running 10k watt bulbs for plants
I believe that many fish are less responsive in bright light. They are usually more active during dim hours of dusk and dawn.

Re: can lights be too bright for puffers??
hard to say .. depends on how your tank is set up, how much structure is in there etc... test it out and see how your little guy reacts. You can always change it back

pufferpunk, do you think it would be okay to use the lights i wanna use? they're 14 watt fluorescent spiral bulbs. MUCH brighter than the indancescent long bulbs that i'm using right now but still not like blinding to look at. would it be possible for them to stress him out at all?

If they are too bright, get a tall plant that bends over the top of the water, to shade him.
