- My Puffers: 1x GSP (Bolla), 1x m. something. Bought as a leiurus, maybe a turgidus (Tiger), 1x c. irrubesco (Tott(a) aka Houdini) 1x c. salivator (Jack the Ripper), 1x m. cochinchinensis (Hufflepuff - R.I.P.), 2x c. lorteti (Tommy and Tigern = Calvin and Hubbes), 1x m. suvatti (Koseklumpen), 1x m. palembangensis (Dragonfly), 2x t. biocellatus (Koken and Fiken).

If I was to pick up a puffer I actually can keep, it's a red congo.
The puffers of my dreams, that I can't keep, is a Fahaka for FW, and a striped burrfish (ok, not reallly a puffer, but close enough) for SW.

I was unfamiliar with the burrfish...now I want one...lmao...

I haven't owned either but for FW I want an mbu and for SW it'd be a porcupine puffer. If i'm not mistaken I don't think that's an actual puffer either, but I could be wrong!

I'll have to go with the Porcupine puffer. There's just something adorable about a cute fish with big blue puppy dog eyes and pointy spikes. Their personalities are rather remarkable, too.
My local fish store has a 250 gallon that they keep fish people bring in because they've grown too big. There's maybe a 5 or 6 inch porker in that tank right now. He's pretty shy, but I'm in there so much he comes out and swims right up to me. Little guy melts my heart. Wish I had the room and the time to set up a big tank for him - I'd have him!
My local fish store has a 250 gallon that they keep fish people bring in because they've grown too big. There's maybe a 5 or 6 inch porker in that tank right now. I love these topics. Well my fav will have to be Fahaka for FW, GSP for BW-SW, and Stars and Stripes puffer for SW. Now these are what I have and had owned but really enjoy/enjoyed.

I love these topics too!..that's why I had to make one! lol...I really like fahakas too..but there is something about the mbu...since I will most likely never own an mbu because of the space needed..I see a fahaka as a substitute..not to downplay a fahaka of course as I really like them as well...I can't wait to own one...FADE2BLACK_1973 wrote:I love these topics. Also for BW my fav would be GSP as well, but I really want a few F8's as I love their markings!...I really wish I could have every puffer..But...this thread is about our favorites lol

Since I've never kept a tank bigger than 20 gallons, and I'm just a fan of nano fish in general, the Dwarf Puffer is by far my favorite. Not that I wouldn't get a bigger tank and try some of the other species, but I just love the tiny little guys.

My personal favorite is the F-8. Those pack everything that defines puffers into a small size that anybody with 2-3 square feet of space can keep as long and perhaps better than they could the average dog. They are highly active and owner-responsive, should live about a decade and a half (but can live longer), and for a specialist fish they are quite undemanding.
I do admire the T. mbu, and the one I kept was perhaps my personal favorite individual fish - and my wife's, but I recognize that these are not fish for the average hobbyists. These are definitely excetional fish, true pets, but are also exceptionally expensive and somewhat demanding to keep. Quite frankly if you do hot have an upper brackets income with plenty of spare disposable income and time, they should not even be considered. Like a boat, if you have to ask the price you cannot afford it.
Burrfish are not puffers to me. They are the other side of the family. But they do have the same - or equal - charm and fascination, are equally intelligent, and are not as demanding or expensive as an mbu, but still are not trivial in any sense as wet wet pets. You would be facing greater investment and upkeep costs and time than a Fahaka, but I would rate them higher as personable wet pets.

I got bored of FW Puffers once I saw my first Dogface Puffer! I have kept both Porcupine Pufferfish and Burrfish and for me the Porcupine is way more cute and interesting, Marine Puffers are the top of any pufferlist tho. With Arothron Meleagris KING
