height of filter inlet

Post by jread002 »

just wondering if i should have one of my filter inlets near bottom of tank

i have a 60gal thats almost twice as high as regular long tanks with two HOB filters, both rated for 60+ gal tanks.
ATM both inlets are about 8- 10 inches into the tank. would haveing one inlet near bottom help prevent dead spots cause its a tall tank.
gsp has been spending alot of time near the top latelyand if i should have a inlet lower, any ideas on how and what to extend it with

thankx

Most of mine are near the bottom, unless it's sand.

if its sand then keep it away from the bottom as PP said. but if its gravel then dont be afraid to keep it as low as the gravel itself so long as the gravel isint sucked into the pipe. i will be getting/making something similar to the eheim intake apparatus that has the sponge pre-filter thing. classy and very effective imo

I think you can buy extensions for them at a store.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.
