cycled tank
may sound stupid but ive never left an empty tank running. have a smallish tank that has been empty for a while will it de-cycle? water params are still all perfect but dont want it to crash, would it be a good idea to keep and feed shrimp/snails in there to keep it tip top as may get a f8 in soon
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Re: cycled tank
A tank will hold its cycle based only on the bioload. If your tank has only one small fish in it, that is all it will be cycled for. Adding shrimp or snails will obviously increase the bioload and the tank will re-stabilize at that bioload level. But you do need to monitor it while increasing the bioload.
You may need to remove the fish, shrimp or snails when the F-8 is added to at least equal the mass of the new fish.

Re: cycled tank
adding food into the empty tank will help keep the tank cycled if you cant get any fish in there
