Java Fern Question

Post by Hike »

Since I've been getting my tank back in better shape I have a bunch of java ferns with long rhizomes but only 5 or 6 leaves. Bad picture coming up.

Can I cut the rhizome some where and not damage the growing edge so I don't have the long part with gangly roots?

Sure can. Can get multiple plants growing that way.

+1 to PP's comment.

Java fern has no roots, it has holdfasts only. Those long threads appear to be roots to me.

It's a terrible pic from my phone RTR but I'm pretty sure it's java fern. At least I've been treating it as such for a few years. :D

Pretty much anywhere between those bumps sticking out on the stem.
