now ive read alot on the forums and im looking to keep a porcy puffer, i have a few questions about the awarium, the minimum is 100g the site says but ive read alot of you say its all about the foot print since there big blocky fish and need space to turn, im wanting to do a lagoon style tank with the measurments of 48Lx24Wx16D whick works out to only 80ish gallons plus id have a 40g sump/refugium would this be an ok footprint if it had a center overflow

Not 100% sure on s/w but that seems big enough, also if you include sump then that makes 100 gallons .

What about swimming room for a 12+" fish?

thats why im asking im assuming 48x24 is tons of room for a 12" fish and most that ive seen dont swim vertically.....

A 16" deep vessel is not much for a fish of that mass. I would want something bigger - minimum is just that, minimum. For a long lived hefty fish I would want something a lot bigger.
