never used that hydrometer i have the instant ocean hydrometer but yes if you wanted that one it would work and powerheads you can find online or LFS just type in powerheads in google and alot should come up. I like the hydor powerheads

at LFS but you could order it online too i recently got a refractometer and its a lot more accurate but more expensive

A HOB is not going to get to the salt sitting on the bottom, especially for a large volume container. Here's my mixing station in the basement:

It's for my reef tank. There are valves that I turn so the external pump will flow into the bucket for mixing & then turn a couple more & it pumps the SW upstairs to various tanks.

to understand cycling & the nitrification process, start reading:
library/category/water-filtration/

Bleh, we have a flooding problem in my basement, so I can't go near that sink.... PP, would you mind, when I get my tank, if you could skype voicechat me or something, I learn much better when hearing someone talk to me.

How do you shut off the water when the tank is full? Do you run downstairs quickly? Or shout to the hubby?
